Terms and conditions

  1. Clearing and Delivery ex MSU / MTS /GBE / WDH USD 0.10 p/kg or Min USD 275 (within city limits)
  2. Delivery ex KM4 to MPM can be arranged for shipper’s account after clearance at KM4 (rate on request)
  3. Packing rate / shrink wrap: USD15 per pallet, warehouse handling Min USD30 or USD0.05p/k (only when required on re-handling / packing of cargo)
  4. POD on request, for non DDU cargo at an additional cost- Movement is based on depot to depot only POD’s for MPM /BLZ/LLW must be requested from the consignee’s clearing agent
  5. Original Invoices and Contact details of the consignee required on the transport documents.
  6. High risk / High value cargo (Over R1 mil) / temperature control cargo /(e.g. mobile phones, laptops, pharma etc) can be accepted on pre-approval from LUD, should no special request for escort / temperature control transport be mentioned on booking, cargo will move as genco (general cargo) *escorts / temp control will be quoted on ADHOC basis, should it not be required LUD Logistics will not accept any liability for loss on this cargo
  7. DGR cargo accepted – except explosives, firearms, and radioactive material, fuel in accepted quantities *trem card required
  8. LUD storage rates:

Genco 1st week free thereafter min USD30 or USD0.05p/k per day

Perishable cargo from day 1 min USD45 or USD0.08p/k per day

  1. Perishable cargo (Frozen, fresh or temperature sensitive) accepted on dedicated reefer trucks and on adhoc basis
  2. As to avoid delays please inform the shipper, cargo will move via RFS from JNB to above destinations. Pre clearance should not be done at the airport but at the final point of clearance.
  3. Cargo moves on consolidation trucks and the transit time listed is only estimated and subject to customs, and other agents’ cargo loaded on the same truck
  4. Re-ice, repack of cargo can be arranged on request
  5. CRAN certificate is required on networking, recording and broadcasting equipment for Namibia, similar BOBS permit for Botswana on pumps and electrical appliances
  6. Other Southern African destinations or dedicated loads on request
  7. No consol shipments, rates based on direct MAWB or per HAWB – no CC Shipments allowed
  8. Spot rates on request
  9. VOC Cancellation fee of R1500 will apply to shipments being cancelled on which customs documents were processed
  10. The ROE will apply as per the AWB date for invoicing
  11. The higher rate between the min rate or the +250kg rate will be used for invoicing on the smaller shipments with weight below 250kg
  12. Any damages of cargo or claims must be submitted no more than 7days after arrival at final destination in writing to LUD Logistics
  13. Liability terms and conditions on request – it is advised that shipper always insures his cargo
  14. All cargo accepted for RFS must be packed fit for transport and clearly marked
  15. Above consolidation rates are based on genco & stackable cargo (non stackable will be billed for wasted space USD0.10p/k min USD50) with a bond limit of R1milion
  16. Clearing instruction required on all shipments & cancellations
  17. Airline handling to apply if the destination on the AWB reads JNB (Min USD50 or USD0.10p/k)
  18. Following products are not accepted for RFS :

26.1: Explosives, ammunition, arms, cigars, cigarettes, tobacco and a like

26.2: Treasure notes, specie, bullion, cash, bonds, deeds, stamps, pre-paid telephone cards and securities

26.3: Manuscripts, documents, plans and computer system records

26.4: Dangerous drugs which are the subject of various International Conventions

26.5: Liquor and alcohol related products

26.6: Any live animals, jewellery, furs, watches, precious metal and stones, artworks and antiques

26.7: Copper and related items

26.8: Radioactive material

26.9: Second hand cargo or goods incl household or personal effects* is accepted but no liability cover is offered on these products

  1. Cutt of times for connecting RFS services
    • Botswana – GBE 12:00 on day of departure delivered to the trucker
    • Eswatini (Mbabane) 12:00 on day of departure delivered to the trucker
    • Lesotho – MSU 12:00 on day of departure delivered to the trucker
    • Namibia – WDH 12:00 for the next day departure (delivered to the trucker)
    • Namibia -WVB 12:00 for the next day departure (delivered to the trucker)
    • Zimbabwe- HRE Day 4 at 13:00 for day 5 departure
    • Zimbabwe -BUQ Day 4 at 13:00 for day 5 departure
    • Malawi – BLZ Day 3 at 13:00
    • Malawi – LLW Day 3 at 13:00
    • Zambia – LUN Day 3 at 13:00
    • Mozambique – MPM Day 1 at 15:00 for day 2 departure, day 4 at 15:00 for day 5       departure
    • Mozambique – BEW TBA
    • Mozambique – TET TBA
  2. Port Health operating hours: Monday 08:00 to 15:30 Tuesday to Friday 12:00 to 16:00*subject to change
  3. Cross Trade cargo – Please contact LUD for the correct process to follow should the cargo transit trough RSA with the 3rd party based in RSA
  4. Diplomatic cargo – there is no HS code for Dip cargo – we require an inventory with a value of invoice to clear in transit docs in JNB
  5. No show cargo will be billed 50% of the applicable rate should the shipment be cancelled on the day of arrival for dedicated loads
  6. Return cargo into JNB or a bonded warehouse in JNB
    • LUD can arrange for the return of cargo from various countries to RSA
    • The rates for BLNS countries include the following: collection (within city limits) customs export documents, transport and delivery to the airport / warehouse – insurance is excluded
    • Collection from other counties will be on request and on adhoc
    • Airfreight / Seafreight export bookings / services can be arranged if required from JNB / DUR
    • Proof of export will be required to acquit our bonded entry this will be either a stamped AWB or Bill of lading copy, failure to provide will result in VAT/Duties being brought to account for the shipper’s account (when using a 3rd party for export)
